I am absolutely for abortion, we have too many humans on this fucking planet, and even CNN now has a thing called Planet in Peril, explaining how our resources are running out and the population is expected to increase by 50% in the next 40 years. Can we use some common sense, please??
“or you think BIG LOVING GOVERNMENT CAN FIX ALL OUR HUMAN MORAL ISSUES WITH LOVE AND HANDCUFFS AND PRISON CELLS”
Sorry those are your words, not mine.
“Whether it’s Libs trying to ban guns to solve problems of human violence, or Cons using LAW and punishment to correct human sexual behavior, its a stoopid HAMMER approach”
I really don’t care how much you want to bluster. I’ve made my point, you don’t agree. Thats fine.
Keruaran,
You are PRECISELY turning a moral issue into a political football.
Moral issues are argued in church and other non-coercion venues, not COURT nor COPS
You are maybe too lazy for persuasion, or you think BIG LOVING GOVERNMENT CAN FIX ALL OUR HUMAN MORAL ISSUES WITH LOVE AND HANDCUFFS AND PRISON CELLS.
How lovely.
Whether it’s Libs trying to ban guns to solve problems of human violence, or Cons using LAW and punishment to correct human sexual behavior, its a stoopid HAMMER approach.
I have no idea what your comment is in response to. And I’m not interested in turning a moral issue into a political football for right wing fascists and left wing socialists to argue about. That is diversionary.
This is about the rights of human beings, who’s rights seem to be omitted in the argument as if they are not relevant. But of course they are.
You should start considering that people need to take responsibility for their choices before sexual intercourse.
Any state who’s laws are not an insult to God and humanity has the right to tell you that your rights end when they infringe upon the human rights or endanger the life of another human being.
On Hemp: It only became a “demon weed” after Dupont started lobbying politicians. Why ? Because they wanted to sell their own synthetic hemp, otherwise known as Nylon.
Keruaran,
If you think a military police state that let 2 million Iraq toddlers die of starvation, dysentery, cholera, etc. under Clinton, then more under Bush, fetuses and radioactive DU dust, both Iraq-Afg and Bosnia-Serbia, etc,
if you think THAT same force can be sincere “pro-life”, that’s nuts. They can USE “pro-life” for votes and repression, but the Mil-Industrial-Intell-Media complex cares nothing about Life or Peace. It loves Death and Profit.
A STATE solution to a social problem?
“The STATE should not have JURISDICTION inside the BODY” This is where you misrepresent the argument
–
Keruaran,
I support ppl who are morally opposed to abortion, of course.
I’m not stating that people who want to OUTLAW abortion say they WANT the State to have TOTAL POLICE STATE jurisdiction inside women.
I am stating that will be the RESULT.
Drug laws were introduced to “help” society from getting snared by DEMON WEED. Look now. We have no privacy or rights, prison for plant residue.
A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent’s position.
Well? Explain: In what way did I misrepresent the argument to outlaw abortion?
Some say, “we want it illegal, but we don’t want women arrested for it”. WHAT??!! How the hell do you collect evidence but forcible testing? Non-punishable crimes? How long?
What I described is the standard in El Salvador and other anti-choice countries (which are not pro-life, they have govt death squads).
I agree, i was impressed by the entire speech. This one comment is confusing because of Obama’s phrasing. He is making fun not of the bible, but those who take the words of the bible to mean what the want (Levitcus that was taught to slaves to show their inferiority), or how the lack of following the bible’s teachings (avoiding violence, turning the other cheek, in teh speech on the mound)are actually carried out in the govt.
Women should not be subject arrest nor detention so the medical cops and go on a “fishing trip” looking for evidence.
Snitches should not be cultivated to turn in their sisters for womb vandalism … aka murder.
If abortion = murder, absolutely, with no regards to jurisdiction or circumstance, then ALL killing = murder and every US soldier who has killed someone is a murderer, regardless of CIRCUMSTANCES.
Jurisdiction and circumstances are NOT irrelevant.
The question is JURISDICTION. The STATE should not have JURISDICTION inside the BODY of every woman in America. (Libertarian-minded conservatives should understand.)
We’ve already given the State jurisdiction over our homes, cars, and bloodstreams to “protect our society” from illegal plants.
Our bodies (men too) should not be PROPERTY of the State which is merely LICENSED to it’s citizens to be used according to “community standards”.
When Obama used the term radical on the sermon on the mountain he did not necessarily view it negatively. Jesus can be viewed as a radical for his teachings were so revolutionary at the time that no wonder he had to pay the ultimate price for it. To preach peace and turning the other cheek is truly a radical and risky idea even in the present day world a la Martin Luther King, jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. A fact that many “believers” including the republican evangelicals fail to acknowledge.
I believe that life begins at conception. However, I also believe that in the question of abortion a woman’s right concerning her body should be respected. The embryo is part and parcel of her body. The government has no business legislating it!
Good Morning GretaGarbo2007,
A little thought. Lets say, for fun sake, that I am not for cheeseburgers.(Which I am by the way.. yummy) but when I am at the big Fast Food caucus, where I happen to be the Leader, I issue a statement saying, “Well its up to you guys to choose what you want.”
That is showing two things,
1. My refusal take a stand on the issue which therefore shows my lack of leadership.
2. It shows that I am not showing my belief in a non-cheeseburger society
You all need to remember that America is a melting pot of all types of religions. We are based on freedom of religion. As a Christian I do not believe in abortion and I heard Obama say that he is not for it either. But, as president he has to consider all the differences in our country when making decisions, etc. So, you have to give people a choice.Because we believe it is the wrong choice for us doesn’t mean we can force that belief/choice on others. All we can do is pray for them.

Um, no I’m not, and your saying so does not magically make it so.
“Moral issues are argued in church and other non-coercion venues, not COURT nor COPS”
So basically law has nothing to do with morality then. Very interesting…
“You are maybe too lazy for persuasion”
In other words, because I won’t agree with you, therefore I’m lazy ? Fascinating…

I felt brainwashed by the “Pledge of allegance” so I didn’t do it, and got in trouble. My first brush with the “Freedom” of the country.
