WASHINGTON — Although Joseph McCarthy was one of the most demonized American politicians of the last century, new information — including half-century-old FBI recordings of Soviet embassy conversations — are showing that McCarthy was right in nearly all his accusations.
“With Joe McCarthy it was the losers who’ve written the history which condemns him,” said Dan Flynn, director of Accuracy in Academia’s recent national conference on McCarthy, broadcast by C-SPAN.

complete bullsh*t
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Oh my god! That is just about the biggest load of junked up, self indulgent, Americanised crap I’ve ever heard. Cann the pragatic bullshit! You really think its going to make a difference if either Obama or McCain get in anyway (I’m guess thats whos running, your system is so predictable)! Your nation has given all it has to offer, all you need now is another war or act of terrorism so your next president can rally around the flag and lul you into a false sense of security. Hello 2nd term. Blind

To add to your comment sar, Obama only served in the Senate 143 days out of those 3 years.

Obama pledged his support to telecom companies with his recent vote to support FISA with provisions for telecom immunity for illegally spying on American citizens. As the new leader of the Democratic Party he could have galvanized sufficient support to filibuster the bill. He only needed 40 of the 50 Democrats — but he remained silent.

i’m not sure what the problem is with talking to leaders of countries america has issues with
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Obama: “I would. And the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them — which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration - is ridiculous
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Question: “[W]ould you be willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?” …

Obama’s Change In Position Shows His “Inexperience And A Certain Worrisome Naivete” On National Security, As “He Might Not Have Realized Exactly What He Was Saying.” “I attribute Obama’s predicament to inexperience and a certain worrisome naivete. When he said he would personally negotiate with Iran (if he were president), he might not have realized exactly what he was saying.”

i’m not sure what planes have to do with your argument, but they won’t be cheap to fly on either.
batteries aren’t the answer - alternative fuels are. there just isn’t enough stuff, ie the right kind of metals in the ground to replace all the vehicles in the world with electric ones. electricity probably will be more important in the future, though.
vote based on policy, not just experience, which obama has enough of. he did spend years in the illinois senate.
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
What doe u think the airplanes run on? Air ? Ok let me suggest to all the airlines from now on =you have to come up with airplane that runs on battery. Let me see how far it will go. Automobiles are not the only things we use gas in this country.
I chose a president by his years of experience in congress. Obama basically has none.

biofuels like methanol (not ethanol) look to be our best bet to be honest
as well as much better public transport
we’re going to have to face the fact that energy will be much more expensive no matter what policy is implemented or not implemented. but good policy can get people of the road and into trains, use less fuel (oil or otherwise) and reduce emissions all at once
i’m not sure why you think mccain would be better re: energy than obama (do you?)
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
you can’t increase supply of something that isn’t there
there’s apparently “up to” 100 billion barrels (according to optimists) of oil on the u.s continental shelf which would last the world 3 years at current rates of consumption
it’d last the u.s on it’s own about 12 years
windfall profits tax is a tax on profit, not at the pump
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
“Think we can’t get our own damned oil out of the ground fast and cheap?”
yes
because it’s not there. alternatives like oil shale are extremely expensive and at current prices still not economically viable
that means oil will be more expensive no matter what
on top of that there are climate change worries
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Mean while our whole economy is based on oil. It is figured into the price of every product and service. It is component of many products. I believe our whole economy is about to crash and Obama is not the answer. He is just another very corrupt politician. Details of the Resko trial are slowly coming out. Google “operation board games
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Now auto makers “new solution” is electric cars and trains. We had electric cars 100 years ago, and electric trains and trolley systems all over the country. Corrupt politicians taking kickbacks dismantled all these systems in favor of buses. This meant we now had to buy new buses, tires, oil, fuel all over the country. Now we have to pay to bring these things back, and line the corporate pockets again.
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
The US is the nation that won WWII in the Pacific and Europe, put men on the moon, and landed on Mars. Think we can’t get our own damned oil out of the ground fast and cheap?
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Are you ready for even higher prices should Obama (God forbid!) be elected. His proposed windfall profits tax on oil companies will raise prices more or these companies may just leave America. Government can’t define excess profits. If they could, they would tax Coca Cola before oil companies. If we want lower prices, we need to pull out all of the stops to lower consumption and increase supply and develop alternatives. Obama won’t do all of this.
November 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
i can’t wait till gas is $20 a gallon
it’s gonna be awesome and there’s not gonna be anything anyone can do about it!
wait, there is - if we tell republicans to shut the fuck up, stop being retarded and maybe realise that oil has peaked
production of barrels flat lined from 2005-2007. maybe this year will be the first year ever fewer barrels were produced than in the previous year.
