Barack Obama indicates that politics must be founded on secular values rather than religious ones. His views reflect an essentially atheistic upbringing as a child with an Islamic apostate father and relapsed Christian mother.

Hey Dorothy, did you know that the Templeton Foundation (a Christan organization) did a study on prayer? They had a group of heart patients that was prayed for, a group not prayed for, and a group prayed for and told about it. The first two groups were statistically identical. Interestingly enough, the third group did worse, by some strange phychosomatic effect (performance anxiety, giving Jesus the wheel, what have you.) Anyway, the point is that knowing how to pray does nothing.
What kind of strange things did you do, that damaged your reproductive health?
You don’t know how to pray do you!
God is punishing you..for your secret sins
I would prefer a president who sounded even more like Bill Maher, but even this much secularism in government is definitely a giant step forward. I hold out hope that we rational Americans may yet reclaim the country from true believers.
My only problem here is that Obama is too soft on the tendentious myth that America was ever a Christian nation. It’s not, and it never has been. This is not a matter of opinion; it is a matter of fact.
I applaud Obama for tackling this difficult subject of faith and politics- in a church no less. I feel I respect Obama for carrying this out with the primary goal in mind. It is about the COUNTRY, and everyone in it, not just Christians. It involves everybody… I can’t truly verbalize how much I appreciate this video. It’s like, I dunno, almost something that I’ve been waiting to hear but I didn’t know it until now… y’know?

simonandtheghost “I laugh at some of the lunatics out there who try to say he’s secretly a muslim.”
If Obama were a muslim, he would be a fine example to other muslims as how to act, think and behave.

God bless America for electing this president.

I don’t think he really believes any of this religious bullshit.
Dawkins once said something to the effect of:
“Americans won’t elect someone who is simultaneously intelligent and honest.”
I think that is the case here. He seems to be religious purely to succeed politically. I don’t blame him.
